Big Lore ;;

  Childhood.   Val originates from North Blue, specifically from a small country called Marillio. In his childhood, he found and consumed a Devil Fruit; The See-See Fruit, Model Rift. This caused his family to become superstitious of him and his powers, resulting in abuse and bullying from the people in his village. This all lasted for years, until his 11th birthday, where he finally broke and murdered his direct family, that being his mother, his father and his elder sibling. He ran away from the village he lived in shortly after, staying homeless for a few months.  Teenage Years.   At around 12 years old, he was found and adopted by a man named Jin Taiga, who he called Daron. That man trained Val and fathered him for a few years, until when Val was 14, and Daron was taken away by the Marines for unknown reasons. Val was left alone once more, and became an independent kid, relying on himself and his own knowledge to get by.  Adulthood.   Early on, he met the rising pirate group of the Spade Pirates, quickly allying with them; in exchange of a temporary home and comrades, he gave knowledge and a fighting hand.
While teamed up with the Spades, he came across a Wanted Poster of the one and only Trafalgar Law, immediately becoming infatuated with him and deciding to make it his goal to become useful to him. During his time as an ally to the Spade Pirates, he visited the Bastille, a place that held the underground weapon of the same name. There, he met Daron again, and had a showdown with him, where he gained his most iconic scars & his Bastille.
As the Spades joined the Whitebeard Pirates, he followed them, where he quickly became a part of the crew, and was nicely welcomed.
At Marineford, he finally met the man he'd been waiting for, now 25 and ready to join him. Seeing as how the Whitebeards had been crushed, he had no doubts about his decision. He requested a place in the Heart Pirates, offering to find the Momentorium for Law and dedicating his life to it in exchange for the role of "Honourary Right Hand Man", which Law agreed to.
During the Timeskip, he was independent again, focusing his every move on finding the Momentorium, eventually earning a bounty that went over the Billion.
Val had only made his return after Wano, joining up with the Heart Pirates once more and making his decisive move to finally go to the Momentorium, and give up his life to achieve his goal. At the Momentorium, Val took advantage of Law's Devil Fruit ability, and extracted his life energy (or rather, his life in general), and gave it in exchange for Rosinante.
A battle well fought, Rosinante and Law reunited, and Val wasn't that well off, a weakened heart and butchered body, but living. The next few months were spent with Val slowly but surely wilting away, until three months had passed, where he passed away in his sleep due to heart failure.  Return.   During an earlier relationship with ex-accountant ARK Coda of the Donquixote Family, Val had worked out a way to get the former to sign a Momentorium-issued Soul-Binding Contract, which was put into effect after Val's passing. This contract served as a way for Val's life energy to become shared in Coda's body, the two begrudgingly sharing the vessel until Val brought the two of them back to the Momentorium. There, he managed to get the two separated, their new bodies now sharing major markings such as scars and eye colours.
Now separated, Val began tracking down the Polar Tang once more, eventually finding his crew and reclaiming his place as the Right Hand Man. His return changed his dynamic with Law further, the two having been involved for a while, where they got engaged for fear of being separated again, then properly married.  Post-Canon.   Val led his life alongside Law through thick and thin, finding a stray child named Miloua on the way to an island when he was 38, taking him into the crew until they all went their separate ways when he was 39. He brought Miloua along with Law and himself, eventually adopting him into their family and settling down in a fairly-sized town called Priseil-Kesa, opening a library together where he and Law could share their findings from their time as pirates, including the knowledge that Val and Law had accumulated from restricted documents.

Val is a tall bastard with an attitude and a constant lust for all things intense and stimulating. He wants entertainement and fun above all, and wants to serve a purpose, absolutely despising being useless when he knows he could be doing something more interesting. His way of thinking varies from time to time, but he's usually pretty laid-back, not one to initiate a fight, but almost always the one to finish it. He thrives on being whimsical, never sure to be obeying orders from anyone but his beloved Captain.
He tends to take advantage of his good physique to take people on in fights, usually pretty hard-hitting yet slippery for his opponents. His fighting abilities range from tactics and strategizing to raw violence and emotionally loaded fights.
He's riddled with worries of how he interacts with people, his emotions enhanced by his BPD and other such mental disorders, which lead him to be unstable at times.
This unmedicated himbo beast is slightly hard of hearing due to how many times he's come close to ripping his own eardrums out due to the pressure his Devil Fruit puts on his inner ears.

  DEVIL FRUIT.   The See-See Fruit (Miru-Miru No Mi), Model Rift. Enables him to see various things that no normal person could see, such as Space-Time rifts and points of Impact.
His Devil Fruit is broken down into multiple abilities:
- Vision Firstfold, Minimal future-sight
- Vision Twofold, Space-Time Rift sight
- Vision Thirdfold, Beacon sight
- Vision Fivefold, Attack Triangulation
These abilities all take tolls on Val's health and consume more or less energy, and in Twofold's case, could kill him and the people around him.  SPECIAL ATTACKS.   Val's Devil Fruit is also useful for things such as wider-range attacks, the most prominent being Cathedral Nuke; a combination of Twofold and someone else's abilities used to create a powerful impact on a wide scale.  QUIRKS.   Val has a few things that make him seem more like himself, such as the following:
He is a recovering alcoholic.
He likes romcoms.
He's extremely arrogant and a huge hypocrite sometimes.
He's scared of people touching his legs.
He has a pretty good alcohol tolerance, but wouldn't ever out-drink people such as Nami or Zoro.
He doesn't snore.
He hates wearing shoes, and one of the rare few times when he willingly wore shoes was at his wedding.
He doesn't necessarily like coffee but he can drink it because he likes the smell a lot. (The smell also reminds him of Law)
He dips a pain au chocolat in coffee for breakfast usually, but sometimes uses a piece of bread with butter on it and dips it in coffee.
He can barely use guns.
He likes walking around with big boots or with socks.
He walks very quietly when he wants to.
He's so quiet that people don't notice him when he's standing behind them, often startling a few.
His eyes glow slightly in the dark due to his Devil Fruit.

Val is diagnosed with Histrionic Personality Disorder.
He doesn't smell bad even when he doesn't shower, though sometimes he will manage to shower twice per day.
His name is in (First Name) (Last Name) order because of where he comes from, where it was the standard issue.
Due to having inherited Leopard and Serval mink traits, he's got mirroring birthmarks behind his ears, and develops a white patch of hair at the base of his nape at around 30 years old.
He calls everybody he loves by a certain type of nickname (Shachi = Chichi, Law = Lolo, Daron = Jiji, etc etc).
If he were in a band, he'd be the drummer or guitarist/lead singer.
He's supposed to have glasses, he just doesn't have any.
He likes to stand in the rain and smoke.
Despite his personality, he doesn't smile THAT much, but he does have a terrible staring problem.
His bed is almost like a nest, considering how many pillows and blankets he owns.
